How to make a sharpener for knives with your own hands. I used to sharpen kitchen and other knives on the sandpaper or on a grinding bar. All knives turned out to be in scratches and sharply sharpening was bad. I thought about a special machine. I looked through a lot of literature and rummaged on the Internet and found what I wanted. From several options chose its own and made the next machine for sharpening.

Materials

1. Plywood or plastic plate with a thickness of 10 mm.
2. Screws, bars screws, washers and bar (0.5 m) with thread M6 or M8.
3. Magnets from used computer hard disk

4. Bearing from the old coffee grinder.

5. Emery (abrasive skins) sheets and bars of different grainability: 120, 320, 600, 1500.

Manufacture

1. The fixed part of the machine is made from plywood (plastic). Lengins with a length of 30 cm. And 5 cm. And the width (10 ... 12), see the letter g from below the aluminum corner. In the rapid part, we install 1 or 2 magnets (they are poured with epoxy resin). In the lower opposite part, the hole drills and install the vertically rod with a thread (height 12 ... 15 cm.) With the bearing.

On the surface (for the resistance of the knife being stuck), we establish the prepared aluminum (or stainless steel) with a slot in the middle of the plate (up to 2mm thick) with a barish clamp.

2. Movable part of two options:

Embodiment A. For sharpening by bars.

Option B. For sharpening abrasive skins.

Aluminum profile 4 sides with a width of 25 mm.

For each side there is a strip of abrasive skirts of different graininess: 120, 320, 600, 1500. For stickers, I use the stationery adhesive pencil. After the skins strip used is easily removed with a knife and a new bar is pasted.

Sharpening process

1. We establish a sharpened knife as in the photo.

The knife is clearly fixed by the magnet and disappears the need to fix it mechanically.
With the help of a moving stop, we put the knife up to the required position and fasten the rest of the barish screw.
We put the rolling part of the machine on the knife.

Now exhibit the sharpening angle dropping down or lifting the bearing with screws.

For the first sharpening, turn to the blade of the knife with a minimum digit of graininess 120 (the coarse).
ichill to obtain a solid strip on the edge of the blade (0.5 ... width ... 1 mm.)
I turn the knife and repeat everything.
The process continues to skit 320, 600, 1500.
Now you can shave with a knife.

The same procedure sharpening with sharpened bars. But in this case there are several flaws:

1. The middle part of the bar over time is then produced by the sharpening angle "floats", which is not in the first version.
2. Bars with different graininess must be changed, and in the first embodiment, it is necessary only to turn the face to change the grain. The removal of the bar occurs with the sprinkling of the spring with two fingers.

Now all knives are sharpened by a complete cycle. If some of the knives are stupid in the course of use. I just right out these knives with grain 600 or 1500, two-three movements for each side of the knife.
