You will need

  • - Epoxy automotive putty;
  • -putty knife;
  • -car paint your body color;
  • -just paper or cant;
  • - brush, roller, foam sponge or spray;
  • - A piece of drape or other rough linen.

Instruction

Dent surface with sandpaper or diamond bar with fine abrasive. The main thing to clean the entire surface gently, leaving no other finishing marks. Peel off dentby grabbing a small patch around. This should be done for uniform distribution and good adhesion to the metal.

After stripping the dent, be sure to degrease the treated area. Remove moisture and paint particles left on a dent by static electricity.

Apply epoxy putty on the surface of the dent, capturing the area around it. Do not try to immediately align the putty to "zero" with the surface. First, after drying, it will “sit down” a little, and secondly, after drying, you will still need to polish the treated area.

Wait until the putty has completely dried, with exactly the time specified in the instructions for its use. Using a rough piece of cloth, grind the surface of the wing, where the putty is applied. You must ensure that the surface becomes smooth, without irregularities and not have inclusions.

Apply paint to the treated area of the wing. What you will do depends on your preferences and skills. You can use a roller, foam rubber sponge area with a spray. Dry the surface of the painting. It is possible to dry surfaces, either, having waited for natural drying, or having placed in a drying chamber. In the latter case, the alignment process will be significantly accelerated.

The above described method of aligning dents on wing   not the only one. There is also a way when a dent is squeezed from the inside.

note

If you do not have experience in squeezing a dent from the inside, it is strongly recommended to fill the dent. This method is the simplest and easiest and will not lead to additional deformations of surfaces during careless performance of work.

Helpful advice

When painting the wing by hand, you can use a household hairdryer. Injecting hot air will not only speed up the drying process, but will also help you apply paint evenly.

All sorts of accidents (accidents, hooligans, children playing with the ball, etc.) can be the cause, due to which on your favorite car there are damages in the form of dents on the body. As a rule, body work in car-care centers by craftsmen is very expensive, which is not affordable for everyone. Therefore, in order to save on the services of specialists, you can try to get rid of dents yourself in a rather simple, effective and proven way.

Instruction

Every driver periodically asks the question: "How to remove dent   on the back of the car? ". And every time it finds a lot of answers - from how to drive a vehicle into service before - to do the repair yourself. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to eliminate the body defect.

You will need

  • -Rubber hammer (mallet);
  • - wooden bar (width - 10 cm, length - 15-20 cm);
  • - clean rags (old rags, cotton is better);
  • -an ordinary hammer.

Instruction

Inspect the damage from all sides. This will make it possible to understand how strongly the metal is deformed. Small dent   can be eliminated, but at the same time the paintwork should not be broken. To do this, thoroughly wash the surface of the car and wipe it dry with a cloth. Take a building dryer, set the power just above the minimum. Heat metal in a damaged place with smooth circular motions.

Take a can of compressed air and spray the contents evenly onto a heated surface. In case of contact of cold air with a heated surface, the metal will start to assume its original state. Repeat this procedure until the dent disappears completely. Carefully wipe the straightened place and ensure its integrity.

Use a special suction cup if you do not have compressed air or a hair dryer. Carefully straighten the metal to it, starting from the edges of the dent. Move smoothly to the center. Straighten the metal in the middle of the dent with the last movement.

Get a set of special hooks. With their help, you can straighten the metal. To do this, push the technical hole of the body closest to the dent and press the deformed place from the back side, thereby forcing it to take its original position.

Inspect on-site dent. When flown away or broken paint can not do without. Give the metal its original shape using the methods outlined above. Wash surface thoroughly. Defat her. If desired, you can remove the old paint, using special chemicals. Apply a coat of primer. It should be as thin as possible. After that, degrease the surface again. Next, apply one or two coats of paint. Wait ten minutes and apply a layer of varnish. Let the surface dry.

Damage to the paintwork on bodywork   cars are quite common. Scratches, chips, minor dents and other damage sooner or later may appear even on the most expensive and well-groomed cars. In the service stations, these flaws are removed by painting the whole body element. It will be expensive. But you can try to perform small auto body repair yourself.

You will need

  • - primer for metal or paintwork (depending on the depth of damage to the body);
  • - putty for cars (if the damage is significant);
  • - paint;
  • - acetone;
  • - respirator (to protect the respiratory tract during painting);
  • - skin;
  • - water;
  • - paper and tape;
  • - clean rags (rag).

Instruction

When purchasing material for repair (primer and putty), give preference to European manufacturers, because the quality of domestic materials is much worse than imported ones. For example, a high-quality primer is needed so that the paint lies flat, does not bubble, keeps well, and so that in the future, metal corrosion centers do not appear on the repaired area. So do not regret money.

In order to choose the right paint by color, remove a small part for the sample from the painted surface of the body (for example, the gas tank cap). In a specialty store, you can contact your dealer to help you in this difficult issue. Keep in mind that the new paint after drying will look a little different than the previous (factory).

Carefully read the instructions for use, which is available on the cans of automotive paint, and strictly adhere to these recommendations. Before painting, you may need to degrease the paintwork with acetone (or at least gasoline). Do not use solvent for this purpose, since he eats away enamel.

Passenger cars often end up in small “accidents”, in the end - the front wing was slightly wrinkled or scratched. The breakdown is unimportant, but, for its elimination in the auto-workshop, you will have to fork out. But, if your car is maintainable (and most of the own Russian cars are specifically such), then we recommend that you read this article. It offers tips on how to align the dents on the fender of the car on your own, and how to save money.

Probably, most of you have sufficient theoretical background: they know what specific tools and materials are required to repair the machine, and how to use them. Some people may have even managed to get everything they need in advance.

It is time to put theoretical knowledge into practice. For example, take the usual and fairly common case - damage to the front wing. Obviously, there are various damages. From time to time the wing happens so crumpled and torn, that even the most qualified beaters will not take it back. But it happens rarely.

Another situation is even more likely: they were driving along a zigzag forest road, a little gaping - and a tree was touched by a corner. Or they didn’t react to the “feet” that lit up in front of them, and they touched the car that had already stopped. No matter how hard the blows are, the lights are intact, and on the “bubble” wing, the exterior of the car is flawed, and car inspectors look suspiciously mistrustful: have you hit anyone in an hour?

An urgent need to smooth the dents on the front fender of the car. What does that require?

  • First, the jack. It would be nice hydraulic. But it is possible to get along with the rail, so most of the Russian cars have been completed to this day.
  • Secondly, the jack must be supplemented with extensions of different lengths: hydraulic - segments of a thick-walled round tube, rack - square, tightly worn on the rack rail. If you did not find a square pipe, you can change it with 2 corners, welded into a square. The longest extension should be 40-45 cm.
  • Thirdly, you need a leveling hammer and powerful support, as well as a few pieces of sturdy solid wood bars.

If all this is cooked, you can begin to work on the alignment of dents.

First, remove the front wheel from the damaged wing. Under the jack jack install a reliable support-stand. Next, we will place one suitable bar under the wing on the stiffener next to the recess for the headlight, and place the other bar on the front panel of the car body, in other words, in the rear part of the wing.

We will put a square extension pipe on the ratchet rack of the jack (we will consider this option as more usual), insert the jack with the extension between the bars and, working with a jack, as when lifting a car, we will burst the wing from the inside, stretching the fold. "Bubble" will decrease in the eyes. And, probably, it will disappear completely, only a small dent remains on the lower flange of the wing. Here, in fact, comes the time for a clean straightening.

When applying the support from the front side, you should trim this dent, by gently tapping the hammer from the inside of the wing, without loosening the jack. Perhaps a small bubble remains at the decorative embossed strip of the wing. And there is a way out. It is necessary to wrap a wooden rag with a rag, lay it exactly under the line and, hitting the rail with a hammer, remove the swelling.

In general, about the relief strip - the conversation is special, because, whatever part of the car body you are trimming, this line will almost certainly be there.

The fact is that in addition to the decorative function, it is also a stiffener. And if this edge falls in the area of straightening, you need to start with it specifically. First you need to edit, knock out the stiffener, bring the line to its initial state and only later smooth other areas. This, if I may say so, is one of the most important rules, a small “professional secret” that influences the quality of work.

Do not loosen the jack, as finished straightening - it happens that because of the residual elasticity of the wing can again be deformed. To avoid this, having finished the work, tighten the jack for one or two more clicks, as if overpowering this very elasticity caused by the deformation. And now you can remove the jack.

Often, without any visible circumstances on the wing of the car, suddenly there appears what the masters in their own jargon call “the crackler”: with an unaided eye it is clear that the wing is slightly swollen outside. If a bubble is pressed a little on such a bubble with its hand, it disappears, occasionally emitting a corresponding click (and therefore a “flapper”). But at least some push on the bulge, and the wing is blown out again as before. And so it can last forever.

Such a disadvantage arises from the fact that the wing has spread, it seems that a certain amount of excess metal has been formed: there is nowhere for it to go, just a bubble.

Well, if the reason is clear, then it becomes clear how to cure. Excessive metal is removed, the wing is “stretched”. And here again the decorative line comes to the rescue. It is necessary to wrap the rail with a rag, rest it in a decorative line, and tamp it down with a hammer so that the wing is pulled under the line. Often, two-three strokes are enough to get rid of the "bounce", the wing is again tight and hard. This is the second "professional secret."

In the cases of deformation of the wing discussed above, straightening, as such, was practically not used: we extended the wing with a jack, and only slightly corrected the metal on the ribs.

But there are cases when the blow does not occur at the end of the wing of the car, but from the side - as a result, a dent appears on the wing. Such a dent only by pulling will not work. In this case, have to resort to straightening.

The essence of the straightening is that the “excess” metal formed by stretching is moderately dispersed into a huge number of small tubercles. The more such tubercles will be, and the smaller they will be, the better your work.

But, before proceeding to the straightening, one more rule must be taken into account: the straightening must be started from the edges of the dent, and move along a narrowing spiral, ending in the center. This is the 3rd "secret."

First you need to find where the dent ends. To do this, we will cross-straighten it with a straightening ratfil, and later we will begin to knock out the wing from the inside using a hammer with a sharp beak and supports. When the straightening sheet begins to remove the top of the tubercles over the entire surface, in other words, when the metal is taut, you can begin to level the dent. Here we will use a leveling "saw". And do not be afraid that it will perforate the metal: the thickness of the wing of the car - 0.5-0.6 mm, to remove this layer is very difficult.

And after the canvas to smooth the surface should be putty or solder. At this could be to finish. But after all, with all the leveling work, and even more so, using various lifting devices, safety issues are of paramount importance .

It should be understood:

  • Raised car can not be left on the jack - it is imperative to use a reliable, strong stand. When installing a jack for exhaust body parts, you need to make sure that it rests firmly and will not slip.
  • Only use a serviceable tool. Pay special attention to the nozzle hammer. The handle of the hammer should be smooth, free of burrs, cracks and chips.
  • Wear gloves or at least thread gloves when working.

That's all.   Now the minor flaws and dents of the front wing of your own car, you can correct and align themselves. This will help you save your home budget, and at the same time grow in your own eyes, and in the eyes of your loved ones and friends. But even better, do not get in an accident, even small ones.

Unfortunately, there are times when the body of your car suffers from bumps and gets dents or scratches. There can be many reasons - unsuccessful parking, a negligent driver behind the wheel of a passing car, and so on. Sometimes it is quite possible to align the wing or the door with one's own hands, without resorting to the services of specialists. To do this, you need a minimum of tools that are in almost every home, in extreme cases, you can contact your neighbor in the garage or the landing.

Aligning body dents.

If the body has received slight damage in the form of a dent or deep concave furrow, it is necessary to remove the damaged part and compare it with the similar one located on the other side of the car. The latter will become a kind of mirror or pattern to be oriented.

Some of the damage, popularly called “crackers,” can be repaired within a few minutes. "Flapper" is characterized by the fact that the paint coating layer is not damaged and the curves of the body parts with a pronounced angle are not affected. In order to level the metal, it is enough to tap the damage site with a rubber hammer on the inside. It is necessary to take into account the fact that the wings often bend outward during installation, which gives them additional rigidity.

To even out other damage, it is best to use a special set consisting of metal convex heels and various corners, but not all have it. Therefore, to align the damaged place as follows. Attach a rubber mallet to the outer side of the part and hammer the damaged area to the inner side with a metal mallet. You need to start with the deepest damage, but if the damage is in the form of a furrow, then the starting point of treatment is one of the edges of the furrow. The main thing - do not overdo it, so that the metal does not go further than necessary. That is why it is necessary to periodically compare the repaired part with the whole.

In the event that a deformed place has a pronounced angle, for example, a bend of the wing that runs along its entire length, there are two options. In the first case, you can simply align the damaged place with a putty (if the place of impact has gone no more than 5 mm), in the second case it is necessary to align the metal to the maximum possible level, that is, the minimum deviation from the normal depth of bending.

In some cases, you can swap rubber and metal hammers — press the bending point with a metal hammer to bring the part outline and mark the line, and beat it with a rubber hammer at the pressure point and align the damaged place.

After the body part is brought into a state as close to normal as possible, it is the turn of putty and painting. First of all, it is necessary to strip to the metal the entire damaged surface and 3-5 cm intact along the perimeter. This is done so that there is no obvious difference between them in level. It is best to do this with the help of a grinder.

After the place of impact is cleaned, proceed to the putty. Pre-need to clean the bare metal from dust and particles of soot using a normal wet cloth. Putty putty must be strictly in the vertical direction, starting from the intact side - it is easier to impart the desired level of metal bending of the part. Also putty should be applied to intact, but brushed metal, but in no case on the painted areas. It is necessary to achieve the maximum coincidence of the level of the painted surface and the filled.

After the putty is completely dry (drying time and temperature conditions are indicated on the packaging and is individual for each manufacturer), it is necessary to polish the filled place. This is done using a special nozzle on the grinder with a fine abrasive. Then the primer is applied and the waiting time comes again. When the primer is completely absorbed and dried, the surface must be sanded again. In this case, you can not make an effort - we simply smooth out possible irregularities. Do not be afraid to hook the painted layer, because we thereby bring it to the same level with the primed.

After all this, wipe the treated area dry and paint it. It should be noted that it is necessary to apply the paint only on a horizontal part to prevent any smudges. For applying paint, it is best to use a special spray gun, but if it is not at hand, then an ordinary can of paint will do. It is necessary to pre-test it on any other surface - the sprayer should not “spit”, otherwise it will be noticeable on the car body.

Any motorist wants his “iron horse” to always look at the highest level, but sometimes even with careful and meticulous care, dents and other similar defects appear on the car body (most often they are the result of an accident). Fortunately, they can be eliminated independently, and by the way, it is decent to save at the same time - local body repair at a service station now is not cheap.

The inconspicuous shallow dent on the doors or car hood can be quite easily and quickly eliminated with the help of a special building dryer and a can of compressed air. Getting started, thoroughly clean the defective area from dust and wipe dry, dismantle noise insulation and door skin, maximize the glass. After that, warm up the desired part of the body with a hairdryer, then direct the jet from the cylinder to the dent. Under air pressure, a small depression will disappear within a few seconds. Perform work in protective rubber gloves. To remove a deeper dent, you need a regular hammer and a mallet (a hammer with a round rubberized head), a small wooden block and a clean, soft cloth. Before starting work, completely disassemble the inner lining and dismantle the car door to get maximum access to the damaged surface from the inside. Armed with a rubber mallet, begin gently tapping the flaw with light tapping movements (strong shocks may cause the paintwork to fall). If the irregularity cannot be straightened, wrap a wooden bar with a rag, attach it to the defective surface and alternately tap it with a rubber or ordinary hammer until the irregularity is completely eliminated. One of the most effective options for self-correcting dents on the wing and car body is considered to be straightening. For leveling work, you will need a jack (hydraulic or rack), a special leveling hammer, various extenders, a powerful support and several wooden bars. Dismantle the wheel on the appropriate side of the car before directly repairing the body defect. After that, under the jack jack, place a strong support. Next, place the first bar under the wing directly on the stiffener, the second bar - in the rear of the automobile wing. Then put a suitable extension cord on the jack and place this construction between the wooden bars. Start to swing the jack in the same way as when lifting the car - at this time the air spreads the wing, thanks to which a dent is stretched. Having fixed the jack, gently line the groove, gently tapping it with a hammer from the inside of the wing (at the same time apply support to the outside of the wing). An important caveat: start this repair with a stiffener and only then proceed to the trimming of other damaged areas! At the end of the work, it is not recommended to immediately loosen the jack, it is better to tighten it slightly to avoid deformation of the wing. You can even the dent using a non-professional device for self-repair of body defects - suction cups with hot melt. The set of this simple device includes a special glue and a gun for heating it, several suction cups of different diameters, a bridge-clip and a spatula for removing glue. Heat the glue with a gun, apply it to the surface of a suitable suction cup (pick it up by the size of the dent). Then glue the suction cup to the defective area, and after the glue has completely cured, attach the bridge-clip to it. Next, gently tighten the bolt on the bracket to complete straightening irregularities. After that, remove the suction cup and gently scrape off any glue with a spatula. During the procedure for aligning dents, it is important not to drag the metal in order not to damage the car paintwork. You can remove a small dent on the wing of a car using a football / basketball ball with a camera and a regular bicycle pump. Place the ball with a pre-deflated camera between the defective surface and the frame. After that, start slowly pumping up the ball - gradually filling with air, it “painlessly” for the paintwork aligns the undesired dent. After removing the bumps, lower the ball and carefully remove it. Keep in mind that this method is suitable for straightening small dents that do not affect body stiffeners.

Following our instructions, even a novice motorist can make minor body repairs to his “iron horse”.

Any damage to the body is very unpleasant for the owner of the car. They not only significantly spoil the appearance, but also provoke corrosion processes. As a result, the owner has to completely paint his car. And if everything is a bit better with scratches, then removing dents is quite difficult. However, if you know how to do something, you can save a lot and return the car to its former aesthetic appearance.

There are several technologies for dealing with dents. They can be pulled out with the help of coins, vacuum equipment, according to the Pops-A-Dent technology, by the method of heating and cooling. Consider each of these methods.

Types of dents

The first step is to determine the type of deformation. These damages differ in size. So, deep damage is considered, the depth of which is from 10 millimeters or more. Often, these dents do not have a clear oval shape.

Such defects are not eliminated on their own. Shallow damages are defects, where the deflection of the metal is no more than 5 millimeters, and there are no damages on the LCP surface. This defect can already be removed with your own hands in home or garage conditions.

Vacuum alignment

This is a special technology for pulling dents without the need for staining. With this method, even serious dents can be removed in a few minutes. The technology involves the use of special suction cups, which can align the surface of the body. This method allows you to remove large and gentle dents.

It is worth remembering that with the help of this method it is possible to correct only the dent itself, but not the consequences - it is impossible to completely eliminate traces of accidents. Choosing vacuum technology, you need to consider that it will be necessary to carry out additional work.

This technology is suitable only for straightening without painting (but on condition that there are no cracks on the surface). If such defects exist, the surface of the metal with rolling out can flake off. This item is not suitable for use.

For this technology, you must purchase special suction cups for pulling dents on cars. Straightening does not require direct and open access to the seamy side of the defect. This is an easy and fast method. The suction cup is applied to the defect site, and a vacuum is created using a compressor. Then, with a sharp movement, the dent is pulled out. Small defects are easily eliminated in this way.

Extrusion with CO2 spray and hair dryer

This technology implies the presence of a can of compressed carbon dioxide and an ordinary household dryer.

Initially, the dent is heated by a hairdryer. And then gas is sprayed onto the surface of the canister. At this moment, the metal will instantly equalize and acquire its previous appearance. When the spraying process is completed, you need to wait for a while and then wipe the damage site.

  coin defects

Naturally, ordinary coins are not needed here. Extrusion of dents on a car in this way is similar to the principle of a shock puller or rod for pulling. Plus the technique is that you do not need to drill holes in the body. This method is very convenient in places where the metal is particularly thin, and it is simply impossible to drill a hole. Work is easily done by hand in the garage.

So what is its essence? The technology consists in soldering copper or bronze circles to a conventional welding electrode. The circle in its size resembles a coin. Then it is soldered to the surface of the body - it must be cleaned beforehand. Circle-coin is located in such a way that it was close to a dent. Next, using powerful pliers, the electrode is compressed, and thus dents are pulled out. When the place is aligned, the “coin” is heated locally and is easily removed. It remains only to clean and paint the place of repair.

Magnet lining

This simple technology makes it easy to remove a dent from the surface of the body. It is worth noting that before starting a repair, you should definitely put soft materials under the magnet. This will protect the surface of the paintwork from scratches. The magnet is directed from the edge of the defect to the center and pulled over. In the case of shallow defects, the fixture will easily eliminate them. You do not need to paint the body.

Pops-a-dent

These are special plastic devices that resemble a regular bracket with two “heels” at each end. They are intended for local repair of dents in house or garage conditions. At the same time to paint the place of repair is not necessary. Devices are made of high quality plastic. It is not fragile, but not flexible. For greater reliability, there are ribs. They give the design elasticity. The cost of this kit is 450-500 rubles. You can buy it in any car store. Feedback on the tool Pops-A-Dent is generally positive. Among the shortcomings of motorists say a small number of nozzles.

The dent denture set itself includes three nozzles with different diameters that have threaded screws at the ends. A lamb is wound on this thread, with the help of which the dents are pulled out.

Special glue is applied to the nozzles of rubber. It is complete with fixtures. Glue has a special formula - it is reliable, durable, but at the same time it is easy to remove without damaging the paintwork. The nozzle needs to be glued on the sides, as well as in the center of the defect. At the edges of the nozzles of rubber there are technological holes - they are made for a reason. At the time of sticking the denture remover, excess glue can escape through these holes. Then, after hardening, he will be able to give additional force for fixation.

How to eliminate the "bubble" after unsuccessful extrusion method Pops-a-Dent

It so happens that the car owner twists the lamb, and the result is a bubble. In this situation, the kit manufacturer has provided special pegs. They are made of unique materials on nanotechnology. Plastic peg is very elastic - it is designed to extinguish the shock load.

This peg is needed in the case when the dent is tightened (for example, on the roof). A bubble forms. If you keep it in the center and not hard to beat with a hammer, then the defect will enter. There are no defects on the surface of the peg. You can knock on him as much as you like, but he will not bend or split. As noted above, the dents are stretched using this method with an adhesive. For its application, the manufacturer added a heat gun to the kit.

So, the glue rod is installed in the gun and then wait a bit until the composition heats up. Further, using the hammer squeeze it. Glue will be good to go outside. The gun is made quite high quality, and its construction is extremely simple.

How to work with the set

To remove a shallow dent without the need to paint with this kit, you must perform several steps:

  • Pre-degrease the center of the defect. Then manually drive the glue into the gun and heat it. When the composition is heated, it is squeezed out by the trigger. While the glue is hot, it is smeared on the rubber nozzle. Last stick in the center of the dent. It is important to remember that the glue hardens quickly. At the moment of gluing the nozzle it is screwed clockwise and counterclockwise. The composition should protrude through the special holes, which we talked about earlier. Next, the nozzle a few more minutes keep at the defect site until complete solidification of the composition.
  • To verify the quality of the clutch, rotate the nozzle from side to side. If all is well, then put a plastic bridge through the hole in the center. Then the lamb is wound on the thread. Together with the rotation of the defect will be tightened. With each turn, the dent rises higher and higher. Twist need to be careful not to get a bubble as a result.
  • When the defect has been leveled, the device is kept on the surface for several more minutes (so that the metal cannot return). After 5 minutes, remove the nozzle. And if she is not removed, then help her hair dryer. In this case, all the paint will remain in place.

Pull technology using levers

This method is used more often than others. But it should be noted that the technology is a bit more complicated than all the previous ones. Before pulling out dents on a car, it is better to practice it on any other surfaces.

First you should purchase a set of tools. In the set there are about 40 pieces of various levers and hooks. Before starting repair work, ensure easy and free access to the defect site. Any third-party elements carefully removed.

Work with the tool for pulling dents are carried out only from the inside. To do this, pick the hook with the optimal length and gently press on the recess, thereby aligning the metal. This technology can be applied even after the classic straightening. Do not work with hooks if the car is puttied. There is a risk that the putty will simply fall off.

Conclusion

As you can see, it is quite possible to pull out dents with your own hands. This repair can be performed in the garage without the need to visit expensive service and painting.
