Occasionally at home it is allowed to detect dilapidated wristwatches that do not go. In this case, immediately there is a desire to disassemble and repair them. This process requires diligence and observation, and the greatest difficulty appears when removing the head.

Instruction

1.   Prepare several small boxes, for example, matchboxes. They are necessary in order to add separately all watch movements. In this case, you need to build them in order, so as not to get confused about what followed what. Make yourself comfortable at the table. Install a desk lamp. Lay a white sheet of paper in front of you. It is necessary to carry out all operations on analysis of hours over it. It will not only quickly detect the fallen part, but also acts as a light reflector in order to increase the lighting.

2.   Remove from the watch a bracelet that will only interfere with work. Take a screwdriver with a thick blade, strong tweezers or a knife and open the case with this tool. If it is threaded, then you need to carefully remove the clogged dirt and unscrew the threaded ring. Remove all loose metal rings or plastic inserts from the case. At this stage, it is desirable to photograph the structure, so that later it would be easier to assemble it back. Learn the mechanism.

3.   Tilt the clock glass down and put on a sheet of paper. In order to get the mechanism out of the case, you need to remove the crank. Do not try to unscrew it. Seek out a small dot-shaped pin on the clockwork mechanism. It is traditionally located near the hole in which the clockwork shaft enters. Using tweezers or a tapered screwdriver, push down on the pin, and gently pull the crown to the side.

4.   Remove the watch mechanism from the case, then immediately return the crown with a lever to the place. To do this, take the watch carefully in your hands so that in order not to damage the hands, press the pin and insert the head. Some models of watches have a special cog in place of a pin, which turns into a half cycle in order to reach the crown.

Repeatedly, the clogging of the mechanism and the penetration of moisture into the case become the reason for stopping the mechanical wristwatch. It is enough to make out clock  , clean and lubricate them. That's just required to know how to do it in fact.

You will need

  • Tweezers, small screwdriver, pointed wand

Instruction

1. Remove the back case cover. To do this, pick it up with a sharp knife. Some covers can be unscrewed. To unscrew the cap, insert the legs of the small tweezers into the slots of the turntable and turn the ring counterclockwise. When the lid is open, as usual, such faults can be immediately seen, such as a broken spring and loose screws.

2.   Before removing the mechanism from the case, release the winding spring. To do this, pull the crown of the dog in the extreme position and hold it with tweezers, rotating the crown with your fingers.

3.   Disconnect the winding shaft, for which set it in the location of the translation of the arrows. Loosen the screw of the transfer lever. Take the mechanism out of the case and insert the clockwork shaft into it.

4.   Check whether the central wheel rotates freely and does not come in contact with the surrounding parts. Check the safety of the attachment of the spiral, balance and drum.

5.   Now you have to remove the hands and the dial. First, unplug the second hand, then the minute hand (this should be done with tweezers). Remove the dial with an hour hand. Look at the dial mechanism, check the clutch of its wheels, turning them in the forward and reverse directions. Check the correct fixation of the transferable and crank arms.

6.   Disconnect the balance bridge with a balance node. To do this, unscrew the helix column screw for two cycles and separate the balance node from the bridge. Take the balance out of the mechanism; it should not hang on the end of the helix.

7.   With a fully deflated winding spring, remove the anchor bridge and the anchor itself.

8.   Disconnect the center, intermediate, second and anchor wheels from the mechanism. Look at the teeth, check the location of the wheels and the clutch between the wheels and their corresponding gears. Disconnect the drum, open it and check the condition of the winding spring.

9.   Rinse the details of the clock mechanism in gasoline, pour it into a small transparent vessel so that the gasoline tier does not exceed 2 cm. First, rinse large parts, and then more small ones. Clean the grooves with a sharp stick. Later flush the parts with a blast of air from the rubber bulb. To pick up the details after cleaning is allowed only with tweezers. Clean up later clock  in reverse order.

In the modern world it is not necessary to wear a watch on your hand, you can find out the time by looking at a mobile phone. However, to maintain a certain image and status, wrist watches are worn as an indispensable accessory for both men and women. Someone prefers modern electronic gadgets, others adhere to the classic version. Sooner or later there is a need to clean the mechanism. To do this, you need to know how to disassemble a wristwatch yourself, if there is no desire to go to the master.

How to start disassembling a mechanical clock?

First you need to prepare the tool: tweezers, a special screwdriver, a thin knife, a small stick, grease and a cotton swab. The initial stage in the question of how to disassemble a mechanical wrist watch is as follows:

  • Removing the rear case cover. It is made by prying it with a sharp knife, turning it until it leaves the locking grooves with tweezers or by unscrewing the thread (depending on the design).
  • Before you get the mechanism, you should release the winding spring by pushing the locking dog with the crank to the extreme position. The mechanism is held with tweezers.
  • Then the clockwork shaft is disconnected. To do this, it is set to the transfer mode of the arrows, after which the screw of the transfer lever is loosened.
  • Now you can get the mechanism.
  • Having inserted a shaft into it, they check the degree of freedom of rotation of the wheel, the reliability of fastening the spiral and the drum.

The final stage

Now you need to start dismantling the dial and hands. Using tweezers, disconnect the second and minute hands. The dial is removed along with the watch pointer, after which the switch mechanism, the gears' clutch and the fixing of the levers are checked.

We learned how to disassemble a watch. It must be remembered that the important point is to disconnect the bridge and balance node. It is necessary to carefully unscrew the screw of the helix column a couple of turns, separate the balance knot from the bridge base, making sure that it does not hang on the edge of the helix.

Next, the anchor is removed, and all its wheels are disconnected. Inspection on the clutch and the position of the teeth, gears, wheels. The drum is also disconnected, and the condition of the winding spring mechanism is examined.

Quartz clock disassembly

To know how to disassemble a quartz wrist watch, you need to remember that they are divided into several types:

  • Analog models that have a switch mechanism, but are powered by a battery.
  • Electronic variations with display of indications in a digital form, working from a small battery.
  • Combined self-winding version that combines quartz and mechanics.

In any case, the initial actions are the same. You must first remove the cover. It can be of three types:

  1. On the thread. Unscrews counterclockwise with tweezers or a special device used by watchmakers.
  2. A shutting option. It has a special groove and a protrusion, prying it with a sharp object, you can open it.
  3. Screw mount. Dismantled with a suitable screwdriver.

Having dealt with the lid, you should carefully replace the battery and close the case in reverse order.

What you need to know?

In order to know how to disassemble a wristwatch, it is necessary to study the layout of all elements and details. This is especially true of mechanical devices. A schematic representation of the internal filling is presented in the following photo.

Features

Disassembly of watches of any type has three stages:

  • Preparation tools.
  • Opening the lid.
  • Work on the internal mechanism.

How to disassemble a wrist watch with a battery? This question is relevant for most consumers. This type of work is one of the most elementary. The determining factor here is the determination of the type of fixing the cover. Then you just need to carefully replace the power supply and repeat the procedure in reverse order. Naturally, you must use a standard or suitable for the parameters of the battery.

The most difficult thing to cope with is the mechanical device, since there are many different screws, springs and miniature parts. Inside the electronic mechanism in general should not be introduced independently, if there is no relevant knowledge and experience.

Conclusion

If you know how to disassemble a wrist watch with automatic winding, and the operation was successful, you should properly clean and lubricate the elements (for mechanics). To do this, the parts are washed in clean gasoline, poured into a small container. The octane number in it should not exceed 20. First, parts that are larger are cleaned, then miniature elements.

After that, they should be blown with a weak stream of air, holding on to the weight with tweezers. The assembly of the clock is performed in the reverse order. It can be noted that the disassembly of such a complex mechanism will require attention and laboriousness. Nevertheless, it is absolutely realistic to carry out the procedure yourself.

Of course, you should not risk if the watches are very expensive, and you have no experience in their maintenance. In this case, you must entrust the accessory to an experienced watchmaker. Simple cleaning will not be expensive. And if you need to replace a particular part, the more it will be better to contact a specialist.

Disassembly is carried out in the following sequence:

Remove the back cover of the case (the most convenient way is to pick it up with a knife; some covers are unscrewed). As a rule, problems such as a broken spring, broken or bent wheels, loose screws are immediately visible.

If at a cursory examination everything looks intact, the mechanism should be removed from the housing. To do this, you first need to pull the crown spring; it is done this way: the crown of the dog is retracted to the extreme position (factory moment) and is held by tweezers, and at this time the crown rotates gently with fingers. Then retrieved clockwork shaft. To do this, set it to the position of translation of the arrows and loosen the screw of the transfer lever. Then the mechanism is removed from the case and the clockwork shaft again becomes in place. In some models, the watch case is designed so that the mechanism can be pulled out without removing the winding shaft.

Check with tweezers the rotation of the central wheel (is it free to move and does not come into contact with the surrounding parts). Check for contact also drum, spiral, balance.

Remove the hands, release and remove the dial. First remove the second hand, then the minute hand (most conveniently with tweezers). Then remove the dial with the hour wheel and the hour hand. Check the condition of his legs. Inspect the dial mechanism, check the bill and hour wheels, check the wheel coupling of the dial mechanism (to do this, turn them in the forward and reverse directions). Check whether the transferable and crown levers are fixed correctly.

Remove the balance bridge with a balance node from platinum. Unscrew the helix column screw by 1, 5-2 turns, separate the balance knot from the bridge. Having removed the balance from the mechanism, it should not be allowed to hang at the end of the spiral.

Remove the anchor bridge and the anchor itself (the crown spring must be completely lowered).

Remove the center, intermediate, second and anchor wheels. Check their position on the axle and the grip between each wheel and the corresponding gear, inspect the teeth.

Remove the drum from the platinum, open it and check the condition of the winding spring.

Cleaning

Wash parts of the clock mechanism can be in gasoline (preferably in a transparent glass vessel). The gasoline level should not exceed 2 cm. At first, larger parts are washed, for example, platinum and bridges, then wheels and other small parts. The parts are cleaned with a brush, and the heavily soiled grooves are cleaned with a pointed stick. Washed parts are blown with a jet of air from a rubber pear. Cleaned parts should be taken only with tweezers.

Assembly

The assembly of the clock is performed in the reverse order.

Clock stop periodically due to trivial clogging of the clock mechanism. It’s not strict to go to the workshop all the time, it’s rather no time to read how to disassemble a quartz watch in stages, and then assemble them following the instructions.

You will need

  • Tweezers;
  • brush;
  • petrol;
  • sharpened stick;
  • rubber pear;
  • screwdriver.

Instruction

1.   Kinematic and schematic diagram of the clock mechanism: 1 — equilibrium; 2 — dual climber; 3 — equilibrium axis; 4 — through stone; 5 and b — unprofitable and impulsive stones; 7- lance; 8 — restrictive pins; 9 — anchor fork; 10 - anchor fork axis; 11 and 12 - inlet and outlet flights, 13 - helix, 14 - helix pad, 15 and 16 - adjusting thermometer pins, 17 - anchor wheel, 18 - stone through, 19 - anchor wheel tribe, 20 - wheel second; 21 is the tribe of the second wheel; 22 is the second hand; 23 is the intermediate wheel; 24 is the intermediate wheel tribe; 25 is the central wheel; 26 - central wheel tribes; 27 - drum; 28 - clockwork spring; 29 - drum shaft; 30 - xiphoidal pad; 31 - drum wheel; 32 - dog; 33 - dog spring; 34 - cam clutch; 35 - winding wheel; 36 - tribal clockwork; 37 - clockwork shaft; 38 - shifting lever; 39 - shifting lever spring (lock); 40 - cranking lever; 41 - cranking lever spring; 42 and 43 - transfer wheels; 44 - bill wheel; 45 - tribe of the bill wheel ; 46 - the hour wheel; 47 - the hour hand; 48 - the minute hand; 49 - the minute hand tribe

2.   Remove the back cover of the quartz watch case. Check if there is a thread on the cover. Unscrew. If it does not unscrew, hook it with a knife or a tiny screwdriver. Check visually the integrity of the clock mechanism. If there are such faults as a broken spring, broken or bent wheels, loose screws, it will be immediately visible. In this case, bring the watch to the workshop.

3.   Remove the mechanism from the case. If the watch mechanism is obtained without removing the winding shaft, then each procedure is facilitated several times. If, however, you cannot do without removing the shaft, take tweezers and move the dog to the extreme position with the crown. Holding the dog with tweezers, rotate the crown with your hand, thereby releasing the crown spring. Remove the winding shaft by setting it to the transfer mode and loosening the screw of the transfer lever. Now you can get the mechanism out of the case. Insert the screw back.

4. Using tweezers, check to see if the central wheel is in contact with the surrounding parts. It should rotate freely. Spiral and drum check in the same way.

5.   Remove the hands and free the dial. You must first remove the second, then the minute hands. Later, remove the dial with the hour wheel and the hour hand. Check the condition of the legs. Check all rotating elements of the switch mechanism by forward and reverse rotation. See if the clock and transfer levers are positively fixed.

6.   Remove the balance bridge from the platinum with the balance node. Unscrew the helix column screw for 1.5-2 cycles, separate the balance knot from the bridge. Do not let the balance hang on the end of the helix.

7.   Remove the anchor bridge and the anchor itself. Make sure that the clock spring was completely lowered.

8.   Remove the center, intermediate, second and anchor wheels. Check their location on the axle and the grip between each wheel and the corresponding gear, look at the teeth.

9.   Remove the drum from the platinum, open it and check the condition of the winding spring.

Note!
Zeal all manipulations to perform with tweezers. Disassemble the quartz watch only on a flat clean surface to avoid losing parts. If you are afraid not to cope with the assembly of the watch, take them to the workshop more coolly.

Helpful advice
Wash the parts of the clockwork in gasoline (in probability in a transparent glass vessel). It is enough to pour about 2 cm of liquid. First, rinse more huge parts (platinum and bridges), then smaller ones (wheels and other parts). Clean the parts with a brush and clean the dirty grooves with a pointed stick. Clean the washed parts with a jet of air from a rubber bulb. Take cleaned parts only with tweezers.

Where to start repairing watches? The first thing to do is to determine the malfunction of the clock mechanism. Most often it is contamination and drying of the lubricant. This fault is determined visually - black tribes, dry nipples. To eliminate the malfunction, the clock mechanism must be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated.
For a novice watchmaker, the most important thing is to learn how to disassemble and assemble a clock mechanism. It is necessary to study on old, unpretentious hours because in the course of training there will be mistakes and mistakes. Let's try to disassemble the clock mechanism. To do this, follow a specific sequence:

1. Remove the case back - then you need to unscrew the screws securing the back cover, after unscrewing the crown keys and removing the arrow buttons. If this is a wristwatch, then the back cover can be removed in two ways, either unscrewed or snaps off.

2. Remove the mechanism from the case  - for this, it is necessary to unscrew the mechanism fastening screws. In the wristwatches also need to get the clockwork shaft. To do this, you need to put the clockwork shaft in the transfer mode of the arrows (pull it off), press down on the tail (a slightly recessed button in the spring bridge) and pull out.

AFTER THAT YOU WILL REMOVE THE MECHANISM FROM THE CASE, THE CREDIT SHAFT IS NECESSARY TO PUT TO THE PLACE.

3. Remove the hands and dial  - the hands are simply pressed, it is enough to slightly pry them up with a screwdriver, but it is better to remove them with korsangs (forceps with pliers), then there are no scratches on either the hands or the dial. If the clock mechanism without a fight and without a calendar, the hour hand can not be removed, the dial will be removed together with the hour wheel and the arrow. In order to remove the dial, you need to unscrew the dial fastening screws; in a wristwatch, it is enough to loosen them (unscrew by 2-3 turns). Typically, the dial fastening screws are located at the end of the clock mechanism, on diametrically opposite sides. All manipulations for disassembling, assembling clock mechanisms must be carried out on a special stand, in order to avoid dust from the desktop and damage to the central and second wheels, which are relative to the board.

4. Weaken the spring plant- Among the watchmakers, this procedure is called spring. To do this, with the fingers of one hand on the half turn to add a spring, and without releasing, take the dog to the side with the tweezers with the other hand. Then slowly releasing the winding shaft, wait until the spring fully unwinds.

5. Remove the balance bridge- unscrew the screw or screws, if there are two, fixing the balance bridge. Use a pair of tweezers to hook the bridge, and slowly lifting together with the balance, carefully remove it from the mechanism. With all this, you need to look so that the balance spiral (hair) does not catch on the wheels.

A BRIDGE BRIDGE IS NEEDED TO SO BALANCE TURNED UP. Otherwise, you can break the axis (pins) of balance.

6. Remove the anchor fork bridge  - unscrew the anchor fork mounting screws, remove the anchor fork bridge, remove the anchor fork. The removed parts must be placed in front of and to the left of themselves, since there should be a tool on the right if you're right handed

7. Remove the spring bridge  - similarly.

8. Remove the wheel axle- Before removing the axle bridge (angrenazh), you must remove the minute tribe. It is located on the central wheel from the side of the dial. In the alarm clock “Glory”, there is no need to take a minute to take pictures without any particular need. Also in the alarm clock "Glory" the bridge of the wheel system and the spring bridge are one. We unscrew the screws that fix the bridge of the angrenage, remove the bridge, take out the wheels. The wheels must be removed one at a time so as not to damage nearby.

Everything, in principle, the disassembly of the mechanism for the novice watchmaker is over. Now the most interesting thing is how to turn this bunch of cogs, wheels back into a clock mechanism. Everything is very simple, we assemble it in the same sequence as it was disassembled. We put the wheels, the axle of the wheel system in place, tighten the screws, after making sure that all the upper and lower axles of the wheels hit the stones. Put the spring, spring bridge, tighten the screws. After that, you can slightly add spring, if all the wheels are spinning, then you have collected everything correctly. Then we put the anchor plug and balance in place. It should be noted that when setting the balance, the impulse stone (ellipse) should fall between the horns of the anchor fork, and not behind them. Now you can start the clock spring, if the clock is gone, the pendulum began to oscillate, which means you have assembled everything correctly. If not, do not despair your main task at first to learn to disassemble and assemble the clock mechanism so as not to break the details. Disassembly and assembly of watch mechanisms should be carried out regularly to get a hand.
