Today, specialty stores have a full range of essential fertilizers of organic origin. Unfortunately, not everyone knows that at home you can give vitality to flowers at no extra cost. Today we will look at how to feed indoor flowers in winter at home, as well as when and how to do it correctly.

When to feed flowers

Knowledge of certain norms and laws will allow you to grow a powerful and elegant houseplant:

  • Fertilization is carried out at the stage of active flower development. From April until mid-October, the home flower needs regular feeding. As for the winter period, top dressing of indoor plants in winter should be kept to a minimum.
  • Begin to feed the plant already when green leaves begin to appear, stretching upwards towards the sun.
  • If the flower does not bloom for a long time, then most likely it should be fed.
  • If the buds are fastened and their growth has stopped. This indicates that the flower does not have enough vital energy and it just needs additional feeding.
  • In the case when the flower, for no particular reason, began dropping the leaves.
  • The indoor flower is stunted and has a painful appearance.
  • The most important thing is to correctly apply fertilizer in order not to injure the root system. This means that fertilizing is carried out only after watering the plant and in any way before watering. If you do not follow this sequence, you can burn the root system. There is another principle to be followed. Each plant needs its own form of fertilizer and should not feed all household plants with one type of fertilizer.

According to experts, regular and proper fertilizing contribute to the proper and timely development of the plant and provide regular flowering.

Need to know!   The flower needs feeding, but not overfeeding. Increased concentration or frequent, reckless dressing can seriously harm the home flower. Such an approach can lead to violations of the development process, the flowering process, and often even the death of the plant.

How to fertilize flowers?

Before you think about how to feed the indoor flowers in the winter at home, you need to decide what they need to fertilize. Many people are familiar with the so-called complex mineral fertilizers, the structure of which includes several basic trace elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and others. Depending on the type of plant, the percentage of useful substances may be different. In this case, it is very important to know how to fertilize indoor flowers in winter at home, because decorative-flowering plantations require more phosphorus, in contrast to decorative deciduous trees, where more nitrogen is needed.

Mineral fertilizers are generally preferable to purchase in liquid form. The concentration must comply with the standards indicated on the packaging, and they are made only in diluted form.

If you purchase drugs such as potassium sulfate, potassium chloride or potassium salt, you can mix potash fertilizers yourself. To do this, take 1.5 g of the drug and diluted in 1 liter of water. This approach allows to get nitrogen fertilizers, if 1 g of urea, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate split in 1 liter of water. It is possible to prepare phosphate fertilizer from ordinary superphosphate, if 6 g is mixed with 1 l of liquid.

Winter: care for ornamental plants

Caring for indoor flowers in the winter is somewhat different from looking after them in the summer. The fact is that most home flowers, when winter comes, weaken or stop their development and growth. Only a few of them, the flowering period of which falls on the December-January month, continue to develop rapidly. Some try to feed the indoor flowers in the winter to bloom more magnificently. At the same time, not everyone knows that winter dressing can harm the plant, because it does not absorb nutrients properly. It is best to prepare the plant for the winter, and feed before the flower leaves for winter rest.

For some home flowers, winter dressing can be carried out no more than once per month, and then of lower concentration, then there will be no question why the indoor flowers in the winter turn yellow. Again, you need to know well how indoor flowers behave in the winter (specific species) and only then proceed to the appropriate care.

Deciding on what you can feed indoor flowers in winter, folk remedies have a wide range of approaches to solving this problem. As far as is known, in any natural material there is a whole range of various necessary substances. For example, it is enough to pour boiling water over the peel of bananas, lemons, and oranges, for example, then you can water the flowers in the winter (naturally rarely), which will support their vital energy. There are other approaches, for example, some owners of home flowers water their tea or coffee brewing. Whatever it was, in the winter, you need to be very careful not to overwet the soil.

In greenhouse conditions, home colors require additional watering, which can be provided by adding special substances to the soil. Top dressing for indoor plants does not necessarily buy in stores. It can be easily made at home, using, for example, the usual banana peel.

This article will tell you how to properly make dressings for indoor plants with your own hands. In addition, you will find useful tips and rules for applying additional fertilizers and signs by which you can determine that the flower needs fertilizer.

When we take care of the crops at our summer cottage, we do not forget to feed them, but when it comes to the care of home flowers, we often remember that they also need to be supplemented with nutrients. And although indoor pets are much smaller and do not bear fruit as abundantly as, for example, garden ones, however, the area of food for their roots is limited to a flower pot. Sooner or later, the soil in the flowerpot is depleted, and therefore it is necessary to periodically enrich it with useful substances.

Very often, flowerpots have to endure heat and drafts, lack of sunlight or its excess. Some flower lovers practice regular transplanting into a new ground, however, you should be aware that the supply of nutrients in a fresh, earthy coma is only enough for two months. And if the culture at this time begins to grow actively or enters the period of flowering, one cannot do without additional feeding. Only those specimens that are in a dormant period do not need a feed.

In order for indoor plants to always have a beautiful and healthy appearance, it is necessary to know some rules for the introduction of useful substances (Figure 1):

  • The best time to apply fertilizer is from the beginning of April to mid-October. Since in winter most species are in a dormant period, feeding is practically not carried out at this time of year.
  • All types of nutrients are applied to a moist soil to prevent root burns.
  • Do not use the same fertilizer at the same time for deciduous and flowering varieties, because they have different nutrient needs.
  • The drug must be strictly metered. An excess of nutrients leads to a cessation of the growth and development of the flower, provokes the death of the culture.

Figure 1. Pokdormok types and ways to make them

As an additional procedure for root dressing, foliar application of the same fertilizers is carried out, but in smaller quantities. Extra root feeds also have their own characteristics. So, they are effective for young specimens with delicate foliage, but adult specimens absorb them much worse. It is impossible to feed plants with foliar or glossy leaves that do not allow moisture (aloe, kalanchoe, palm, saintpaulia, gloxinia, etc.) in a foliar way. In case of insufficient air humidity, spraying with clean water should be carried out after each foliar application.

The video shows the best fertilizer colors that you can use at home.

How to determine when plants need feeding

How to determine that indoor plants need feeding? A number of signs will indicate this to you, among which there are:

  • Slow growth and lack of flowering;
  • Weak, elongated stems and pale small leaves;
  • The appearance of signs of disease: spots, yellowing and leaf fall.

As you know, the disease is easier to prevent than to cure, so we will get acquainted with natural fertilizers that will help keep your flowers healthy and strong.

Banana peel fertilizer for indoor plants

The effect of bananas on the human body is well known due to the high content of the whole complex of vitamins and trace elements in them. At the same time, nutrients are found both in the flesh itself and in the peel of this fruit. Therefore, banana peel is actively used for the preparation of various fertilizers.

It is used in fresh and dried form, as well as for making tinctures and spraying solutions (Figure 2).

  Fermented banana peel fertilizer

Pre-washed banana peel can be dried on the battery, in the oven, in the sun, then grind into a powder on a coffee grinder or simply folded into a paper bag.

Figure 2. Making a nutritional drug from a banana peel with your own hands

Banana powder is mixed with the substrate at a ratio of 1:10 at the time of transplantation, or used as a mulching material, which is sprinkled on the soil in a flower pot 1 time per month. Banana fertilizer in the form of a whole dried peel should be placed only in the lower layers of the soil as a drainage, because on its surface the skin begins to mold.

  Fertilizer from fresh banana skins

Fresh skin is crushed into pieces with scissors and buried in the ground as deep as possible. However, it is often quite difficult to determine the exact amount of skins that can quickly decompose. As for home flowers, the processing of banana peel in pots is very slow.

  Banana Peel Infusion

To saturate the soil with nutrients use an infusion of banana peel. For its preparation, the skins are thoroughly washed, crushed, placed in a liter jar at half its volume, filled with water and infused for 24 hours. Then the resulting infusion is filled with water to a volume of 1 liter.

Complex banana peel fertilizer for spraying

For the preparation of complex fertilizers need powder from the dried peel 4 bananas, 2 tsp. egg shell powder and 20 g of magnesium sulfate. All the ingredients are mixed, pour 900 g of water and shaken until complete dissolution of magnesia. The resulting product is stored in the refrigerator and used for spraying the soil and leaves no more than once a week. It can be supplemented with other nutrients, then the procedure will become more efficient.

Iodine for indoor plants: how to feed

Although iodine is not a vital element for plants, its presence in the soil has a positive effect on all processes of their vital activity. You can spray vases with water with mineral fertilizers, which include iodine, or with special iodine-containing complexes. However, if the content of iodine exceeds the permissible norms, then this fertilizer can be detrimental to flowers. Therefore, you should know that the content of iodine in the solution should be 0.1 mg per kilogram.

Figure 3. Using iodine to make up colors

Plants after feeding with iodine develop faster, bloom more abundantly and practically do not get sick. Experienced flower growers are advised to dissolve 2 drops of iodine in 2 liters of water and water the flowers with a wet solution no more than once a month (Figure 3).

Top dressing of window plants by yeast

It is known that the yeast contains fungi containing a large amount of protein and amino acids, as well as many micro and macro elements. Yeast is very useful for plants, especially indoor plants (Figure 4).

Figure 4. The use of yeast to feed flowers

To prepare the fertilizer for indoor flowers, you need 10 g of dry yeast per 10 liters of water. For the best effect, add sugar, potato tops, hops to the resulting solution in order to increase the nitrogen content in the fertilizer itself. The resulting preparation is insisted in a dark place for several hours, until the fermentation process begins. A liter of the resulting fertilizer is dissolved in 5 liters of pure water and the flowers are watered. The result of yeast feeding will be visible after a few days.

From the video you will learn how to prepare a top dressing for homemade flowers from yeast.

  Egg Shell Fertilizer

A lot of nutrients contains eggshells. It quickly decomposes in the soil and is used as a fertilizer for both garden and home flowers (Figure 5).

Note:  You should know that the eggshell reduces the acidity of the soil, so species such as azalea, camellia, gardenia, pelargonium, hydrangea, pansies, ferns feeding eggshell is contraindicated.

Before preparing the top dressing, wash the shells thoroughly, clean it of protein residues, then dry and chop in any available way. The resulting powder is stored in a paper bag (box) or in a glass container with a lid. Eggshell can be either directly applied to the soil (by powder or tincture) or used as a drain.

Figure 5. Using eggshell to feed flowers in the house

There are several ways to prepare tincture based on eggshell. For example, it is recommended to pour one cup of crushed eggshell with 4 cups of warm water and let it brew for 2 weeks, occasionally stirring up the liquid. Ready infusion water the flowers 1 time per month. You can also dissolve 2 tbsp. spoons of powder in 1 liter of boiling water. In this case, the solution should be infused for 5 days. Using egg powder in its pure form, remove the top layer of soil in a flower pot, mix it in a separate container with 1 tbsp. eggshell and pour back into the pot.

  Fertilizer Agricola for indoor plants

In addition to self-made top dressing, you can use a long-acting fertilizer for house flowers called Agricola. This preparation is universal and is suitable for top dressing of all types.

It contains a complex of all the necessary micro-and macro-elements, economical, has an unlimited shelf life. For the root dressing prepare a solution of 1 tsp. fertilizer and 2 liters of water. Fertilizing is carried out 1 time in 7-10 days, and during the rest period of the plant (from November to February) 1 such additional feeding per month will suffice.

Fertilizers for domestic plants are needed at all stages of development. Without them, cultures do not grow well, do not bloom, lose their presentable appearance. Counters specialized stores dazzle with a variety of comprehensive dressing. However, it is not difficult to prepare a good fertilizer at home from improvised means.

Top dressing of window plants

Top dressing of house flowers is an integral component of their good growth and abundant blooms. The feasibility of regular fertilization is dictated by a limited set of nutritional components in a flower pot. If you do not feed at least once every 2 weeks, the plants will begin to starve. This will immediately affect their appearance.

Nutritional fertilizers are easy to prepare yourself, without leaving home. The raw material can be any waste waste: banana peel, eggshell, aquarium water, onion peel, sleeping tea, coffee grounds. Vegetable compositions not only nourish the soil and enrich it with vitamins, but also disinfect, promote the colonization of beneficial microorganisms.

When to make?

Depending on the season, plants have a growing need for various macro and microelements.

Spring

If in winter the plants were in a dormant period, in the spring they wake up and begin to grow, pick up buds. During this period, the colors are important recharge from the outside. Fertilizers are applied every 14-21 days until flowering. Nutrients with a high content of nitrogen (in early spring) and phosphorus, potassium (before flowering) come to the fore.

Note. It is not permissible to apply liquid fertilizer to dry soil. The plant must be watered beforehand.

Summer

During the summer period, fertilizing is continued, as the crops consume all the energy and nutrient reserves for flowering. During this period, the need for potassium increases. Fertilizers are applied every 14 days.

When spraying should ensure that fertilizing does not fall on the inflorescences. Otherwise, at the last appear ugly brown spots.

Autumn

Top dressing of indoor plants, as well as their abundant watering, should be significantly reduced with the arrival of autumn. Otherwise, you can disrupt the preparation of flowers for the winter state of rest. During this period phosphorus-containing fertilizers come to the fore.

They are made every 30 days, and take half of the summer dose. The only exceptions are those home cultures that have a flowering period in autumn. For such plants fertilization is continued in summer mode. Only preference is given to granular forms with prolonged action.

Winter

With the onset of cold weather, plants should be allowed to rest at a lower temperature than usual. During this period, there is not only a rest, but also a laying of buds for the next season.

There is no need for fertilizer in winter, as well as regular watering. Exceptions are plants that begin to bloom with the onset of winter. They are fed normally (twice a month) with preparations containing potassium, phosphorus.

"Home fertilizer"

Experienced growers in their arsenal have a whole set of home fertilizers that are easy to prepare from waste material. These nutritious and environmentally friendly dressings will be appreciated by all houseplants.

Sugar

Almost all home flowers love sugar. It consists of 2 components: fructose and glucose. The latter provides cultures with energy, and promotes the absorption of organic compounds. To fully assimilate, you need a sufficient amount of carbon dioxide. If it is missing, sugar will lead to mildew.

Fix the situation of the use of EM drugs. The raw material used is lump sugar or pharmacy glucose. 1000 ml of water requires either 1 piece of sugar or 1 tablet of glucose. The frequency of use - no more than 1 time per month.

Yeast

Due to its nutritional value, yeast is much appreciated by growers. They are famous for their high content of hormones that regulate cell division. In addition, yeast is rich in B-group vitamins, thiamine and auxins.

They accelerate the process of mineralization of organic compounds, produce basic macronutrients, increase the activity of beneficial microorganisms in the soil. Yeast in its composition is close to the mineral complexes.

Fertilizer is prepared as follows: 2 g of yeast diluted in 1000 ml of warm water, add 3 large spoons of sugar. Used once a month for flowering and decorative leafy plants.

Sleeping coffee

This fertilizer is more suitable for crops that love slightly acidified soil. Coffee just helps to reduce the pH. In addition, the dried thick, embedded in the soil, makes the earth loose, moisture and breathable.

In addition to the nutritional function, coffee improves the qualitative composition of the soil, promotes the development of beneficial microflora.

Tea Brewing

Slept tea, pre-dried, will serve as an excellent home-feeding. It will fill the soil with useful substances, as well as improve its structure. Most often, dry tea leaves are buried in the ground or introduced when transplanting plants into a new pot. Dry matter should be no more than 1/3 of the total mass of the soil.

Especially responsive to feeding drunk tea violets. This fertilizer contributes to the quick laying of buds and long flowering. Also, dried sleeping tea will serve as an excellent mulch and protect the flowers from moisture loss.

Bread

Each housewife left slices of stale bread. You should not throw them away, but rather dry them, after cutting them into small sticks. Apply this fertilizer like this: the rusks are soaked with warm water, covered with a lid, the cargo is placed on top. Leave limp at least a week.

Weed can be added to obtain better domestic fertilizer. After 7 days, the composition is filtered and used for irrigation no more than 1 time in 14 days. Previously it is diluted in a ratio of 1:10. Grain fertilizer can feed any home plants.

Banana peel

Skins from bananas can be used in different ways. The most common - preparation of infusion. To do this, take a fresh peel, crushed and placed in a jar. Pour boiling water, leave for a day to insist. Then filtered, diluted in water (1: 3) and used for fertilizing flowers twice a month.

Banana skins are also dried, crushed into powder and embedded in the ground to improve its structural characteristics. The peel contains a lot of potassium, and therefore is particularly useful for flowering plants in the spring and summer. Such feeding will not only support the plant in the flowering phase, but also prolong it.

Citrus peel

Crusts of oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruits supply the soil with vitamins and at the same time disinfect it. For the preparation of the infusion will require fresh raw materials and boiling water. The resulting composition is left for 12 hours

Then it is filtered and used as a useful dressing. In addition, citrus skins are used for spraying. This tool allows you to successfully deal with various diseases and pests (especially for spider mites).

Eggshell

It is an excellent source of calcium. To get fertilizers, they are crushed and filled with water (6 shells per liter of water). Capacity cover with gauze, leave for 7 days warm.

After this time, the fertilizer is filtered, diluted with water (1:10) and used for fertilizing flowers. This natural fertilizer is especially important for plants that do not tolerate soil acidification.

Onion Husk

Skins from onions are thrown away by any hostess. This is the most popular tool for making home dressings and controlling insect pests. In addition, it is universal - suitable for any green pets.

To prepare a useful solution, take 60 g of husk per 2000 ml of water. Boil for 15 minutes, insist 4 hours. Then filtered and used for watering or spraying home flowers.

Potato decoction

The water that remains after boiling potatoes contains a large amount of nutrients, and therefore can be successfully used for feeding houseplants. In addition, potato starch gives crops strength and energy.

This dressing perfectly affects the development of the root system of plants. After boiling the potatoes, the solution is cooled and diluted with water (1: 3). The main thing is that it is not salty. This fertilizer is perfect decorative crops, with powerful, fleshy leaves.

Aloe juice

This plant is widely known for its antiseptic properties, and therefore serves as an excellent growth stimulant, restores plants damaged by pests, gives strength and strengthens the immune system.

For the preparation of fertilizers take aloe vera, which from 4 years and more. A few leaves are cut and placed in a refrigerator, wrapped in polyethylene. In a week they will give a maximum of juice and will be ready for further processing. They are ground, squeezed juice. The latter is diluted in water (half a teaspoon per 1000 ml of water) and used for watering twice a week.

Cigarette Ash (Ash)

Ashes from cigarettes also should not be thrown away. From it, as well as from wood ashes, it is possible to prepare fine mineral fertilizer. For 1000 ml of water you will need two large tablespoons of ash. This feeding is applied every 2 weeks.

Due to the large amount of mineral substances, especially potassium, phosphorus, it is indispensable during the period of bud formation, flowering, and also in the fall for productive preparation for the rest period. Especially love ash begonias, cyclamen, geranium and fuchsia.

Aquarium water

It contains a large number of useful elements that stimulate the growth and proper development of indoor plants. In the role of fertilizer, it is customary to apply it from early spring to mid-July.

Aquarium water normalizes the level of acidity, contributes to the colonization of beneficial microflora, improves the qualitative composition of the soil. Due to the abundance of nitrogen, it helps the plants to quickly leave the dormant period and start growing.

"Pharmaceutical dressings"

Excellent home fertilizers can be obtained from inexpensive pharmacies that practically any hostess has. Some of them have a very strong effect, and therefore are used once a year, and even less often.

Toothpaste (powder)

Undeservedly forgotten by all dental powder is used not only for its intended purpose, but also for feeding houseplants. To prepare the nutrient composition take half a glass of water, two large spoons of powder and ash, a spoon of copper sulphate. All ingredients are well mixed until dissolved.

Next, carefully dig in the ground at the roots of flowers, moisten them and the stems with this solution. After the plant is not watered for 7 days. It is even allowed to place a flower in a dark closet. During this time, it will not die, but the solution will cure the roots of rot.

succinic acid

Plain tablets with succinic acid are easy to buy at any pharmacy. This substance is a powerful growth stimulator and is able to reanimate even a heavily damaged, dying flower.

In addition, it contains essential trace elements for domestic plants, vitamins. To obtain the nutritional composition of 1 tablet dissolved in a bucket of water. Apply to watering. One time is enough for a year.

Castor oil

Castor oil is used as a fertilizer for flowering plants. It promotes productive bud formation, abundant flowering. Apply this dressing from spring to mid-summer.

The composition is prepared in the following way: for 1000 ml of water a small spoon of oil is taken. Periodic feedings - once in 14 days. The solution is not to be stored, because every time they prepare a new one.

Iodine

It refers to those chemical elements that cannot be found in nature in its pure form. Usually it is a component of complex compounds. However, it is this trace element is extremely necessary for home colors. It not only stimulates their growth, promotes productive flowering, but also protects against a number of diseases, frightens off pests.

Needed by all, without exception, indoor cultures. Iodine is included in most complex fertilizers. It is used to prevent fungus, powdery mildew, protects the immune system of plants. For the preparation of useful composition take 20 ml of the substance in 7000 ml of water. Used for seed treatment, fertilizing adult plants, spraying.

Ammonia

It is known that ammonia is an excellent source of nitrogen, which is also perfectly absorbed by home cultures. Its action is comparable to the influence of ammonia: it helps to restore strength, invigorates, inspires a new life.

Useful composition is prepared from a large spoon of alcohol per 1000 ml of water. After watering, the flower is transformed before our eyes: the foliage becomes more saturated, powerful, and the budding starts. In addition, ammonia disinfects the soil, killing pathogenic microorganisms.

Vitamin C

This vitamin preparation is successfully used to feed crops that prefer acidic soil. These are hydrangeas, azaleas, camellias. If you regularly water these flowers with a solution of ascorbinka (1 tablet per 1000 ml), then they will always grow well and develop.

For other household plants, including those that are not flowering, a different composition will be more suitable: 1 tablet of ascorbinka, a large spoonful of dry yeast and sand per 1000 ml of water. The solution is left for 24 hours, diluted before use in a ratio of 1:10.

If the houseplant is sick with chlorosis, you should dissolve a small spoon of iron vitriol and 25 tablets of ascorbicum in 1000 ml of water. Before processing the composition is diluted 5 times. Apply every 8-12 days.

Potassium permanganate

This chemical is rich in potassium and manganese - the elements vital to any home cultures for normal growth and development. Potassium permanganate acidifies the soil, and therefore fertilizers based on it are so fond of hydrangeas, begonias, and tradescantia.

It perfectly copes with harmful insects, disinfects the soil. Manganese is bred for irrigation always in different concentrations. The latter depends on the state of the plant, its species, on the deficit of active macro- and microelements. Universal solution - pale pink color. Apply it once a month.

Conclusion

Home plants need proper nutrition and competent care. It is not always advisable to purchase expensive store preparations, it is easy to prepare nutritional supplements and at home from improvised means.

Many people gladly grow attractive indoor plants on their windowsill. Flowers can grow for a long time and please the eye even without targeted and proper care. This is especially true for unpretentious crops, it seems, sometimes, that they need only periodic watering, and they no longer need any conditions for growth. But in fact, over time, each flower in the pot can deplete the soil, as a result of this the plant can become frail and sluggish, stop flowering. So let's clarify how to feed indoor flowers at home in the winter?

When is it better to feed indoor plants?

Green pets need nutrients if:

Their stems become thin and weak, but at the same time they stretch excessively upwards;

They stopped blooming;

Growth rates declined by an order of magnitude;

The leaves are constantly turning yellow and even systematically fall off;

The leaves look weak, small and drooping;

The whole plant looks painful.

Such unpleasant phenomena can be prevented and corrected with the help of systematic feeding. There are a number of recipes that can be applied at home.

Tea (brewing)

Ordinary dry tea black tea (unused) can be a good option for home fertilizer. It is believed that its addition to the soil makes it possible to make the earth looser and lighter, improving its structural features. Also in the brew contains many nutrients.

To achieve the expected effect, it is necessary to combine such an additive with the soil for transplanting a houseplant, adhering to the ratio of 1: 3. Of course, if for planting you use garden soil or soil brought from the forest, you must perform its disinfection, for example, calcined in the oven or freeze.

It is believed that the soil with black tea is perfect for crops with a delicate root system, for example, violets, peperomium, begonias.

Some growers successfully use black tea not only during transplantation, but also for mulching the soil in pots. It should be poured on top of the earth with a layer of only a couple of millimeters and slightly pooled. As a result, the soil will be protected from drying out, and when watering, the tea will release its nutrients to the soil.

Coffee

Not only tea can bring benefits to flowers in winter, but also coffee. However, the coffee must be used asleep, in other words - the coffee grounds. It contains many beneficial trace elements, including nitrogen, which is so important for plants. To achieve the expected effect is to combine the coffee grounds with the ground, mix and pour into pots (top layer). After such manipulation it is necessary to abandon abundant watering for a while.

The use of coffee grounds will be justified in situations where you need to add acidity to the soil. Such a recommendation would be especially useful for hydrangeas, azaleas, and ripsalis. But it is better to refuse systematic use of coffee.

Citrus

It is believed that in the crusts of oranges, mandarins and lemons there are many useful substances for plants, which, when properly used, will contribute to improving their appearance, strengthening the immune system, as well as eliminating pests and preventing diseases. For the preparation of a healing agent, it is necessary to grind arbitrarily cleaning from citrus fruits and fill them with a liter jar up to half. Boil the mixture with boiling water and leave to infuse for 24 hours. Next, strain the finished infusion using a strainer. To fertilize plants, it is necessary to dilute such a tool with ordinary water, adhering to the ratio of 1:10. Citrus fertilizer is suitable for periodic watering of plants that prefer an acidic environment. It will be an excellent find for owners of ripsalis, azaleas and hydrangeas. In the cold season it should be used no more than once every three weeks. And you can store the finished infusion in the refrigerator.

Tincture of onion peel has many healing properties and contains a lot of nutrients. It is often advised to use for the care of plants, as a top dressing and as a means to combat all sorts of diseases and pests (and to prevent similar problems). For the preparation of healing remedies, you must use one handful of husk (about twenty to thirty grams). It must be brewed with a liter of boiling water and sent to the fire of average power. Boil for five to ten minutes after boiling, then cover with a lid, turn off the heat and leave for three hours to insist.

Strain the finished brew and use it for spraying and watering the plants. Keep in mind that such a tool can not be stored, it must be re-cooked each time.

Bananas

Popular fruits at this time of the year - bananas - can be used to improve the condition of flowers and feed various indoor plants in winter, because their skin contains many nutrients, including potassium. It is believed that such a mineral component is particularly positive effect on flowering crops.

For fertilizing plants, you can cook banana syrup. Rinse the banana peel, chop it randomly and fill it with a three-liter container by one third. Pour on top of a tablespoon of sugar (no slide), pour water up to the top and cork. Leave the mixture for two to three weeks in a warm enough place, and do not forget to shake the jar from time to time. The finished product must be filtered and stored in the refrigerator.

To use it, you need to dilute the infusion with ordinary water, keeping the ratio of 1:20. Use the tool for watering once a month.

Home remedies plant feeding can be alternated with purchased, and you can use by themselves.

Top dressing of indoor plants in the winter. Driving along with a well-groomed flower garden, one cannot help but gaze at some bright fruit. And everyone comes up with an idea, and can they decide to plant flowers at home? Plants are a great addition to every design. If the morning went with pleasant feelings, then the whole day felt easier. The maintenance of the garden is a very desirable hobby, which will give positive emotions not only to your own family, but also to all your neighbors. Than to feed indoor plants in the winter period It is known that with the onset of cold weather the plants go to rest. There are species that cease to bloom, some stop growing. But there are those who do not have a rest period (cyclamen, Decembrist, orchids, violets, ficuses), they require a lot of attention in the winter. Watering is less common and spraying more. In winter, you should not neglect fertilizers for indoor plants, because they really need additional nutrition. In order not to harm the plants with podkorkami, you must carefully observe moderation. Peculiarities of dressings in the winter: 1. If the plant is in a dormant period, fertilizing is not worth it. The amount of fertilizer applied to each plant must be correctly calculated. An excess only hurts. Fertilizers are applied, not more than once a month. Since the light day is significantly shorter and the photosynthesis process of the plant is slowed down. coloring of flowers, protects a plant from stresses. Azot - it is necessary at growth of deciduous weight. Than to feed up plants in the winter period: 1. Infusion of orange peels. Orange peel in the amount of one hundred grams pour one liter of warm water and leave for 24 hours. Water once every two weeks. Such feeding will fill the soil with nutrients. One teaspoon of aloe juice diluted in one and a half liters of water. It disinfects the soil, prevents pests. Such plants as ficus, like sugar dressings. One teaspoon of sugar per liter of warm water. Watering is carried out once a month. You should not get involved in such dressing, as pests will quickly pass to the sweet soil.4 Tea brewing will loosen the soil in a flower pot, and give the plant the necessary trace elements. This solution is very rich in iron. Fertilizing flowers with chicken droppings Chicken droppings contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals, so feeding with this fertilizer will be very useful. The main thing to observe the proportions of the preparation of the correct solution for watering. To do this, one teaspoon of litter diluted in 8-10 liters of water. First, chicken manure diluted in one liter of warm water, then add this concentrate to the rest of the water. To apply fertilizer in small portions, once a month. It is well known how house gardening lovers take care of their pets, no matter what time of year. But do not forget that the care in the summer and winter periods are significantly different. It is better to underfed the plant with fertilizer than to give it in abundance and destroy the flower. Plant care Fertilizer for indoor plants in winter Do you need top dressing for indoor plants in winter? This question is often asked by flower lovers, especially beginner flower growers. If needed, how often to fertilize plants and what? Let's try to deal with this issue. Let's divide our room pets conditionally into two groups. In the first we will identify those plants that in winter enter into a period of rest. And the second group is indoor plants, the vegetative period of which continues in winter. Naturally, the mode of fertilizing for these groups will be different. Houseplants of the first group with the beginning of winter will have a rest time. The processes of vital activity during this period are suspended or completely stopped. The plant rests in front of the following period of growth and flowering. Such plants are usually cleaned in a cooler room. Watering and feeding them in this period is not necessary. This group includes gloxinia, cyclamen, some cacti. If the plant continues to grow in the winter, to bloom and delight us with its beauty, our task is to provide them with sufficient nutrients. Do not too often fertilize plants in the winter, 1 time per month will be quite enough. And the concentration of fertilizer should be less than in spring and summer. But it depends on the plant and the phase in which it is located. If a houseplant actively and abundantly blooms in winter, then it is natural that it needs full fertilizer for houseplants. which can be purchased at the store. Ready-made mineral fertilizers are usually used for plant nutrition. They contain all the substances necessary for our plants and minerals necessary for growth and flowering in different concentrations. For ornamental foliage plants, mineral complexes containing nitrogen are recommended. For flowering plants, phosphorus and potassium are more useful in the period of budding and flowering. Liquid mineral fertilizers are the most convenient and often used by flower lovers. They can be bought at any flower shop or supermarket. These fertilizers are very effective, easily absorbed by plants. They are also convenient because they allow you to adjust the concentration of fertilizer applied. Soluble or bulk fertilizer. Before use, you should dissolve them in water and prepare a solution of the desired concentration, the fertilizer should be used immediately for its intended purpose. Granulated fertilizers - solid fertilizers in the form of granules - balls, soluble in water. This fertilizer is called the fertilizer of the future - it is efficient and convenient to use, therefore, such fertilizers today are much more expensive than liquid and water-soluble powders. Usually, granulated fertilizers are placed immediately when planting a plant, or distributed over the surface of the earth into a pot, without being buried deep in the ground. moisturizing; plants transplanted into fresh soil should not be fertilized for at least two months; sick and weakened plants can only be fed with a very weak solution. it is better not to fertilize at all, because their roots in this state cannot assimilate top dressing and the plant may die. Only healthy plants should be fertilized during the growth period; excessive fertilization is harmful to the plants. Proper care of indoor plants in winter. How to care for indoor plants in winter? The question is not idle. The house becomes especially comfortable when there is a cold outside the window and a flower garden on the windowsill. Cyclamen does not tolerate room heat at all. Consider the tastes of plants without fail. It is known that on the windowsill, closer to the glass, the temperature is 3-4 degrees below room temperature. This climate is suitable for camellias, primroses, geraniums, fuchsias, hydrangeas. Flowers do not like drafts. Ventilate the room, cover them with newspapers, flowers located between the frames - cardboard. Watering Houseplants Watering is one of the most capricious procedures. Frequently, it is harmful, since the earth at the bottom of the pot does not dry out, sours. The lower roots rot, and the plants, as a rule, die. Plants that shed their leaves, water more rarely, but do not let them dry out. This also applies to flowers that are at rest: tuberous begonias, gloxiniae, cyclamenes. And what should be the water? Pour it in the tank beforehand and keep it in the room: the water will stand and its temperature will become room temperature. From the warm water the plants grow, the cold water is poorly absorbed by the roots, and the flower can die from. lack of moisture. Boiled water is unsuitable for irrigation, as there is no air in it. Direct the jet from above closer to the edge of the pot; make sure that the earth does not erode. Loosen the compacted soil. From time to time, plants should be sprayed or washed from a watering can, under a shower. Earth do not forget to close. You can wipe the leaves with a damp cloth or brush. Strong solutions burn the roots, leading to the death of flowers. You can prepare a strong solution in advance, taking 1 tablespoon of mineral fertilizer to 0.5 liters of water. And when it comes to feeding, mix 1 teaspoon of the prepared solution with 0.5 liters of water. Sometimes you can add 1 teaspoon of milk to 1 liter of irrigation water or use the water left after washing the dishes, meat and fish dishes and fresh Meat. Such an unusual top dressing will give the plants all the necessary nutritional salts. Meat water must necessarily be drained through cheesecloth, otherwise pieces of fat will impede the access of air to the roots. However, not all plants need feeding.
